January 2019 on the way to Roanoke, Virginia.

Today I was thinking about my car…. well…. it isn’t my car anymore. I sold it at the end of 2019. I miss it. It was the greatest car I ever owned. And now, it is someone else’s car.

If it wasn’t raining or snowing the top was down. Didn’t matter how hot or cold it was, the top was down. I mean what is the point of owning a convertible if you are going to drive it with the top up?

There were days where it was freezing outside. And I am sure the that people that I drove past seriously thought there was something wrong with me. But with the windows up, the heat on, and the seat heater on, it didn’t take much bundling up to barely feel the cold air racing over just the top of my head. Let me just say, nothing is cooler (no pun intended) then driving with the top down in the middle of winter.

The truth is, I am not sure if I miss the car more…. or the ability to drive. One of the unfortunate situations I have found myself in is the ability to operate a car. I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if things ended there.

Unfortunately, I am also unable to go cycling. It is like a one two push to the gut. I really miss the thrill of riding, the achievement of it, and the ability I had to ride far. Not to mention I felt so much better after riding daily.

Look, I know that this isn’t forever. I mean after the transplant and a reasonable period of time, I will be back on a bike, driving a car… and hopefully another convertible. But in the meantime, Joanna is my personal chauffeur.
