just one of the many things joanna puts up with

  • Working at my desk in my office/bedroom. Noice I have an office mate.

I had a great office in the basement. But last year, we decided to move everyone around in the house and give the kids their own spaces. Notice I didn’t say bedrooms. Our house has three bedrooms in the main section and then a second master bedroom and micro bedroom in the in-law suite (Joanna’s mother lives with us).

But with everyone home all 2020, we decided that the kids needed to be separated. Julie moved to the loft, which is a curtained off room. And Josh took my office in the basement and got a designated lounge for gaming and hanging out.

While not ideal, it is amazing what the kids will take in the name of their own “room”.

As part of the flip-flop in the basement, I moved into Joanna’s old office. But over time, we came the the realization that the best place for me would be in our bed room. Now, we are making the best of it, but I know that this isn’t my wife’s first choice.

What I like about having an office in the bedroom is it makes it easier to do school and work at any time of the day. The downside, is it sometimes feels like I never leave my bedroom.

One upside is that since moving, I have a new office mate. Finn’s bed is now under my desk. Throughout the day he comes and naps while I do work. He also sleeps there at night. I think he likes having the perception of a crate, but one where he can come and go as he pleases. Plus don’t think he minds that I have treats for him along side my desk.
